During the holiday season with all the appetizers, dishes, and desserts more than likely you will experience a case of heartburn. If so here are a few home remedies that you can use to get rid of it.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Don’t let the word vinegar scare you it’s not that bad. Vinegar is a base, and as such it has been said it can neutralize stomach acid, and in return, it will wipe out the heartburn.

In my personal experience, this does work, but for most people taking a shot glass of vinegar doesn’t sound too enticing. Instead, what I do is mix a couple of spoonfuls of vinegar with some grape juice in a shot glass, and toss it down. If it leaves a bitter aftertaste, you can just rinse your mouth out. You can feel almost immediate relief.

Garlic

Even if you typically blame your heartburn on the massive amount of Italian food you just consumed you can still chew on a clove of garlic to eliminate it.

With that in mind garlic can interfere with some types of heart medications, and if you eat garlic it can have an impact on your sex life as your partner might not want to kiss a garlic clove late at night. You can overcome this though by chewing on some mint leaves which will also leave a cool feeling in your mouth and freshen your breath.

Almonds

These are high in natural oils and can work to eliminate the stomach acid that causes the heartburn to begin with. There are two things though to keep in mind if you want to use almonds. First, you’ll need to have a little room left in your stomach for this to work, and two you’ll also want to make sure you do not have any nut allergies.

These home remedies can work for you, but remember everyone’s body and the situation is different and you should always consult a physician before using any home remedy to make sure it safe for your current situation, body, allergies, and current medication regimen.
